Welcome to Montessori Living

Montessori Living, doing business as Crossway Community, is a thriving intergenerational campus in Kensington, Maryland, and a model for the wider world. Here, children, families, and elders share life across three branches: The Nature School, The Residences, and The Wellness Studio, powered by the National Center for Montessori and Aging (NCMA).

Our work extends beyond community life to include caregiving and Montessori-informed training for teachers, parents, and families, offering practical guidance on applying tri-generational Montessori principles across the lifespan.

We prepare environments and apply Montessori philosophy while building on contemporary research in early childhood, aging, and community wellbeing.

Social change. Montessori education. Intergenerational learning.

Visit Our Campus

Children grow in curiosity and independence, rooted in nature and Montessori principles. Here, exploration is encouraged, joy is cultivated, and every child learns they belong.

More than housing, a community. Elders and families share meals, gardens, and stories, rediscovering what it means to live with dignity, connection, and purpose across generations.

Powered by the National Center for Montessori and Aging, the Wellness Place is where research, training, and community programs show that memory, meaning, and belonging can continue to flourish. From caregiver education to the Longevity Lab, we help families experience aging in place with dignity.
