The Family Leadership School

Crossway Community, Inc. is a pioneering, community-based non-profit organization that offers an integrated, evidence-based approach to reducing poverty and creating social change.

We maintain a deep belief that every individual and family is capable of success when equipped with a set of educational, professional, and personal tools. Our programs are both evidence, and need-based and help our students cultivate the skills necessary to succeed in today's economy and society.

The programs and services Crossway Community provides are delivered through through three distinct but collaborative entities; the Family Leadership School, the Crossway Community Montessori Program, and the Intergenerational Learning Center.

At the Family Leadership School, young mothers are provided with the opportunity and the resources to reshape their lives and learn to be effective parents. During this time, their children attend the Crossway Community Montessori Program where they are encouraged to become independent, creative, and able thinkers. The Intergenerational Learning Center brings the outside community to our campus through a variety of recreational, cultural, and civic events, fully bringing to life Crossway's mission to foster community, creativity and learning for all families.

 Crossway Community distinguishes itself from other organizations by:

•Providing long-term services in an educational framework; 

•Emphasizing family strengths and assets from a multi-generational perspective; 

•Working with families to identify risks and create strategies to address these;

 •Being community-based and bringing families together across culture and class; and 

•Focusing on the importance of early childhood intervention using Montessori theory to promote individual development, independence and social skills.
